Action Alert: Federal Budget Continuing Resolution

After weeks of heated debate over the federal budget, Congressional leaders reached an agreement on funding the remainder of fiscal year 2011 just 2 hours shy of the April 8 midnight deadline for a government shutdown. In the early hours of April 9, the House and Senate passed a short-term continuing resolution (CR) that funds the government through Thursday, April 14. That bill was intended to buy time for negotiators to hammer out the details to the final CR for FY2011. The final bill, released April 11, cuts roughly $38 billion from FY2010′s enacted levels and programs within the Transportation-HUD title saw the steepest percentage cut (18 percent) overall.
