Upcoming Workshop on Planning for Local Communities
The Nitty Gritty workshops for 2011 have been posted. As in years’ past, the Nitty Gritty workshops will focus on helping citizen planners (elected officials, plan commissioners, and BZA members) learn about opportunities, challenges, and concerns in making planning decisions.
Session I is all about the ins and outs of community planning. This session will cover the basic legal framework and tools and techniques associated with effective community planning.
Session II will seek to answer questions that countless citizen planners ask after they learn the basics, such as, “How do I recognize good planning when I see it?” and “How do we get good planning in our community?”
Session I will be July 13 and Session II will be July 14; both sessions will be held at the Indiana Farm Bureau Building at 225 S. East Street, Indianapolis. Participants may sign up for either or both of the workshops. Some Nitty Gritty I information will be repeated in Nitty Gritty II. Single registration per session is $80 and includes all meeting materials, morning coffee and lunch.
